Stop with the expectations already!

I've had the draft of a post since 7-6 but I just couldn't find the time to finish it. Then I was told there were more comments to check so I did and imagine my dismay when I saw Mark's comment! There is NO potential for this blog. When I feel too much pressure from others I just assume I'll never live up to those expectations so I may as well not even try. (We'll explore how Butch warped me another day) All that to say, I have 20 ideas each week to blog about, but never do. I can't seem to pull the trigger. I mysteriously find time to read everyone else's blog each week, just can't write my own. I guess I figure I can't be as entertaining as KZ or as deep as DB or as "special" as Jefe so why try? I make you no promises people. But this could be the start of something colossal or a complete waste of our time. We'll see!

Subversive Parable for a New Generation

So Dwayne has us reading this book to expand ourselves: Parables As Subversive Speech: Jesus As Pedagogue of the Oppressed and we got to thinking: What would a parable look like today that would be subversive?" Well.... Marisa wanted to bring something about Dr. Phil into it (because he's sooooo controversial), but I told her that I thought the Messiah would probably ask something different than "How's that working for you?" Then I suggested incorporating Lost (but we couldn't get figure out if the Kingdom of God is like the Hatch, the Island, a Boat or maybe that Polar Bear. Then we saw jefe's post about the new Superman movie. It made us laugh. We like to laugh. And Scrapbook. We really like to scrapbook. So we decided since there's all this controversy over the new Superman movie- Is he gay? Is he Jesus? Let's make it the parable! And since scrapbooking works best when people collaborate and share their materials: let's share our subversive parable ideas!
So we're hosting our own subversive superhero parable contest:

You have heard it said that Superman is gay...

If it's a post you want, then it's a post you'll get

I can't believe I'm doing this. First of all I'd like to give a shout out to my good friend, Jeff who was so kind in creating this blog for me. Of course it was only so that I would be able to comment on his blog (who knew he valued my opinions so much). I mean I always knew he did deep in my heart but now the world knows just how much he values me! Not only was it so sweet of him to create my blog but the fact that he put so much thought and effort into finding just the right picture for my first post. I mean the fact that he knows me so well and cares enough to do such a thoughtful thing for me, well words just can't adequately express my feelings.

Seriously though, Jeff I love you man. You're like the brother I never had. I know I actually have 2 brothers but you're like the one I always wanted and didn't get!
